Frequently Asked Questions
What brings people to therapy?
People often seek therapy when something no longer feels manageable, clear, or sustainable.
Is therapy only for major crises?
Many people seek support during periods of transition, uncertainty, pressure, or when longstanding patterns begin to feel difficult to manage.
How can therapy help?
Therapy can help clarify emotional patterns, strengthen coping, improve confidence in decision-making, and create greater understanding of what may be driving distress.
What happens in the first session?
In your first session, Catherine will gently enquire about your life to better understand the events have lead you to therapy. Together, we will explore, what has been happening in your life recently, your strengths any challenges you may be experiencing, and what you hope might change through therapy. By the end of the session, you should have a sense of how therapy can support you and what the next steps might look like moving forward.
There is no expectation to arrive with everything clearly explained or planned. You are welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable, and the session will move at a pace that feels right for you. Questions are always welcome along the way.
Are our conversations private and confidential?
All client information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Australian Privacy Principles. Information is stored securely. Confidentiality applies with legal exceptions including risk of harm, mandatory reporting, or court order. Informed consent is obtained prior to services.
What is Informed Consent?
Clients receive written consent documentation outlining therapy process, confidentiality limits, telehealth risks, fees, and rights prior to their first appointment. This documentation needs to be completed to proceed with your appointment.
